What to Do After Graduating from Makeup Artistry School

Written by Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry

So you just graduated from one of the leading makeup schools in Florida? Now what? While most recent grads are eager to start working their dream jobs, not everyone lands a gig right after graduation. If you haven’t landed a job yet, don’t worry. Here are three things you can do in the meantime:

Start with an internship or entry-level position. Although you might have your heart set on a prestigious position in the film or TV industry, it’s important to start somewhere. Consider starting as an intern or an assistant for someone who already works in the industry. Another great place for graduates to find work is in department stores. Many department stores offer entry-level positions for beauty professionals and you don’t need a lot of experience.

Work freelance at a reduced rate. Just because you haven’t landed a job yet doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get paid for your services. Start your own makeup artistry business by offering your services at a reduced rate. You can also trade your skills for photographs for your portfolio. Consider starting with friends and family and expanding your network from there.

Continue your education. For many people, graduation is just the beginning of a long road in makeup training. Perhaps you’re one of those students who want to continue their education by taking additional makeup artistry classes? You might want to pursue your bachelor’s or even your master’s. The point is that just because you graduated doesn’t mean you have to enter the workforce immediately. You can continue your education until you’re satisfied with the skill set and experience you have under your belt.

Cosmix Inc. is a makeup school that offers makeup courses in all areas of artistry, including beauty, fashion, film, TV, and special effects.
